A tall man walks slowly. He wears a red hat. He is very, very hungry. The village is very quiet. People watch from their windows. They feel a little shy. They do not say hello. The man finds a pot.

He finds a smooth stone. He puts it in water. He builds a small fire. The water starts to bubble. A girl comes outside now. She asks about the pot. It is magic stone soup. The traveler smiles a lot.

The soup needs a carrot. The girl runs home fast. She brings a big carrot. Into the pot it goes! An old man brings onions. He drops them in too. Bubbles go up and down. The soup looks very pretty.

A boy brings round potatoes. A woman brings green cabbage. Everyone brings one small thing. The pot is very full. The soup is many colors. It smells like a garden. The traveler stirs the pot. Everyone feels happy and warm.

Now the soup is ready. Everyone brings a big bowl. They sit at one table. They eat the hot soup. It tastes like a hug. They laugh and they talk. The big stone stays quiet. The friends are not shy.
