The Ant and the Grasshopper

The sun is very hot. Ant carries a big seed. He walks to his home. Step, step, step, step. Grasshopper plays a loud song. He jumps in the grass. Grasshopper likes to play games. Ant works in the sun.

"Come play!" says the Grasshopper. Ant shakes his small head. "I must get more food." Ant finds a yellow corn. He moves it very slowly. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Ant is very patient today. He fills his big house.

The cold wind blows fast. The green grass turns brown. Grasshopper has no sweet food. He is very, very cold. His belly feels very empty. He walks to Ant's door. Knock, knock, knock, knock. Grasshopper feels very sad now.

Ant opens the big door. He sees his cold friend. "Please come in!" says Ant. Ant shares his warm soup. He shares his yellow corn. Grasshopper eats and feels good. "Thank you," says the Grasshopper. "You are a kind friend."

Now the sun is back. They work together every day. Ant finds the big seeds. Grasshopper helps his little friend. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Then they play happy songs. Work and play are fun. They are very happy friends.
