The Nail Soup

A kind man walks fast. He sees a little house. An old woman lives there. She is very lonely now. She has no food today. The man has a nail. He smiles at the lady. "We can make soup," he says.

They put water in a pot. The man adds one nail. "Nail soup is very good," he says. The old woman watches him. She wants to see more. "Is the soup ready now?" she asks. "Not yet," the man says. "We need just one thing."

"Flour makes soup very soft." The woman finds some flour. She adds it to the pot. "Butter makes soup very rich." The woman finds some butter. She adds it to the pot. It starts to smell good. "Is the soup ready now?" she asks.

"Carrots make soup very sweet." The woman finds some carrots. She adds them to the pot. "Onions make soup very tasty." The woman finds some onions. She adds them to the pot. The soup looks very pretty. The woman feels very happy.

"The soup is ready now!" They sit at the table. They eat the hot soup. It is the best meal ever. The old woman loves sharing. She is not lonely today. "Please stay here," she says. The new friends smile together.
