The Crow and the Pitcher

The sun was very hot. Crow was very, very thirsty. She looked for some water. She looked high and low. She saw a tall pitcher. It sat on the ground. Water was at the bottom. She found water at last.

Crow looked inside the pitcher. The water was very low. Her beak was too short. She could not reach it. She tried to tip it. The pitcher was too heavy. It did not move at all. Crow was still very thirsty.

Crow saw a shiny coin. It was not her coin. She did not take it. She left it right there. She only wanted the water. She looked at the rocks. She had a smart plan. She would use the rocks.

Crow picked up a rock. She dropped it inside. The water moved up. She picked up another rock. She dropped it inside. The water moved up more. She worked and she worked. She did not stop once.

The water was very high. Crow could reach it now. She took a big sip. The water was very cool. She was a clever bird. She was a hard worker. She finished her big task. Crow felt very good now.
