The Tortoise and the Hare

Hare is very fast. He likes to run. Hare says, "I am fast." Tortoise looks at Hare. Tortoise is very slow. "Let us race," Tortoise says. Fox hears them talk. Fox starts the race.

The race begins now. Hare runs very fast. He goes zoom, zoom, zoom. Hare is far away. Tortoise walks very slowly. Step, step, step, he goes. Hare is around the bend. He is out of sight.

Hare looks back now. He does not see Tortoise. "I will take a nap." Hare sleeps under a tree. Tortoise keeps walking on. Step, step, step, he goes. He does not stop. He is a patient friend.

Hare is still sleeping. Tortoise sees the tree. He walks past Hare. He is still slow. He is still steady. Step, step, step, he goes. The finish line is near. Tortoise feels very happy.

Tortoise wins the race! Hare wakes up now. He runs to the end. "Good job, friend," Hare says. They are both happy. Slow and steady is good. They walk home together. Fox smiles at them.
