The kingdom had a big celebration. Princess Aurora was a tiny baby. Three good fairies gave nice gifts. Suddenly, a lonely fairy walked in. She felt very left out today. She wanted to be invited too.
The lonely fairy made a wish. Aurora would have a long slumber. The good fairies changed the wish. They made the sleep very soft. Aurora would wake to a story. Everyone felt a little bit worried.
Aurora grew into a happy girl. She was very curious and kind. The King hid all spinning wheels. He wanted to keep her safe. Aurora loved to play every day. She learned to help her friends.
One day, Aurora found a tower. She saw a dusty spinning wheel. It looked very strange and new. She touched the pointy spindle once. Her finger felt a tiny prick. Aurora began to feel very sleepy.
Aurora fell into a deep sleep. The whole castle fell asleep too. The cook stopped stirring the soup. Even the little kittens slept soundly. A gentle mist covered the walls. Everything was quiet for many years.
A garden grew around the castle. Beautiful pink roses bloomed everywhere now. The flowers smelled very sweet indeed. Many birds made nests in them. It was a very pretty place. The garden waited for a visitor.
A young prince saw the flowers. He was a very patient boy. He did not rush or hurry. He walked slowly through the garden. He admired every single red rose. The Prince enjoyed his long walk.
He made a wonderful new discovery. The Prince found the sleeping Princess. He sat down by her side. He opened a big, blue book. He liked to read out loud. His voice was soft and calm.
He read a story about friends. His words made a magic sound. Aurora opened her bright eyes slowly. She smiled at the kind Prince. The whole castle awakened at once. The soup began to bubble again.
They invited the lonely fairy back. She felt very happy and included. Everyone danced at a big party. They practiced patience and kindness daily. The kingdom was full of togetherness. They lived happily for many years.
